Why am I salivating so much?

Yeah, interesting question right? Well, I suppose I should say that I am currently sick with a cold and have never had this problem before but this time I find that I'm constantly salivating. It's starting to taste weird. Not bad weird, just weird weird, the kind of weird you get when something's just around for too long. It's pretty gross, I keep having to spit it out a window or in a sink. Can anyone tell me why, or am I just weird? Pardon me, I have to go drool over a garbage can now...
