US Infant Death- Melamine?

I have a newborn and my father in law swears that american babies are dying now because of the melamine tainted formula, so he's basically telling me that if i want to be a good mother, i should keep feeding despite how sore my nipple are because of THRUSH... does anyone know if this is true or not (about the babies dying... not my sore . lol)
