Is the term "Socialist" in Repubspeak the defintion for anything that they disagree with?

Wasn't that the kind of garbage used by J Edgar Hoover and his goons during the Palmer Raids. Back when they felt it was their right to bash heads in, and violate civil rights, when labor unions were forming. That violence stopped years ago. But isn't that spirit still lingering?
